RESIDENTS in Wrexham are being encouraged to discover their creative side this summer.

After the success of last year’s Summer Sun Fun events in Coedpoeth and Gwersyllt, 2009 sees the community arts project return with activities at Brymbo Methodist Chapel and All Saints Church, Southsea.

Resident artist Vicki Reynolds will be available to help people try ceramics, mosaics, basket weaving, painting and more.

The sessions are free, open to all ages and are organised by Wrexham County Borough Council’s West Wrexham Community Development Team.

Richard Sharples, minister at Brymbo Methodist Chapel, said: “We are delighted the chapel and All Saints Church will be used to host the events. It’s a great way of getting the community together.

“The chapel has recently had a refurbishment, so to celebrate this I’m hoping the community can create a piece of art for the exterior wall on High Street for everyone to see and enjoy.”

Sessions will be held every Wednesday throughout the school holiday from July 22. Morning sessions will be held at Brymbo Methodist Chapel from 9.30am-noon and afternoon sessions at All Saints Church, from 1-3.30pm.
