A CHARITY has an exciting stunt planned to boost its funds.

The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, which funds research into a cure for muscle-wasting diseases, is staging a Jail4Bail event in the town in a few months time and is looking for willing volunteers to take part.

The event, which is being organized with the assistance of the Cheshire Constabulary, will see a dozen local business leaders being ‘arrested’ by police at their place of work.

They will then be handcuffed and led away to a place of safe keeping.

The “villains” will eventually be released after mugshots and fingerprints have been taken – providing they have raised a minimum of £500 in sponsorship for the charity.

As a reward, they will enjoy a champagne buffet lunch before being returned to their workplace.

TV presenter Lucy Meacock, from ITV’s Granada Reports, is helping the charity to promote the venture.

She said: “I know how important the work of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign is in trying to find a cure for muscle disease and I am very pleased to help raise awareness of the Jail4Bail event.

“I would urge any local business leaders in Ellesmere Port to get involved and help the charity. It will be great fun and will cause a real stir among your staff!”
