SHOP workers were left “scared and shaken” after two men wielding knives burst into a Winsford convenience store and demanded cash from the tills.

Police have launched a manhunt after the robbery at McColls store, at Willow Square on the Wharton estate, at 9.30pm on Tuesday, October 7.

It is thought a significant amount of money was taken. A police spokesperson said: “Two staff members were cashing up the tills when two males entered the store and threatened them with a knife, demanding they hand over the cash takings from two tills.

“Although unhurt, the employees, local males aged 20 and 22 were left scared and shaken.”

One of the robbers, who was carrying an 8in kitchen knife, was white and approximately 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing black coat with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.

The coat had “Location” written in grey down the right sleeve, and the man had his mouth and nose covered by a mask. He was wearing gloves, and is thought be aged 20- 25.

The second offender is about the same height and was wearing blue Lonsdale hooded top, with the hood up and face covered. He was also carrying “a large kitchen knife”, but was not wearing gloves.
