VICTIM Support in Cheshire is looking for more volunteers to help support local victims and witnesses of crime.
There are 120 trained volunteers working across the county – but it’s not enough.
In 2008, the volunteers in Cheshire supported more than 13,000 victims in the community and more than 8,400 victims and witnesses attending court.
They give free, confidential information and help, whether or not the crime has been reported to the police.
Besides the satisfaction of supporting people in need, volunteers develop essential skills through ongoing training, support and supervision.
They can also take advantage of new opportunities – learning more about crime, criminal justice and the legal system.
Victim Support pays expenses so it doesn’t cost anything to volunteer.
