AN ANIMAL–LOVER is appealing for help in tracing two horses stolen from a field at Parkgate Pony Sanctuary.

Volunteer, Carole Elliot said part of the fencing round the land in Boat House Lane was smashed during the theft last week.

Police say the animals were taken at some point between 8pm on Monday, December 10 and 3pm the following day.

They are two of the four horses which mysteriously appeared overnight on a field in the Westminster area of Ellesmere Port back in October.

As the Pioneer reported at the time, after trying to make their way back to their field in Rossmore Road the frightened animals were eventually rescued by volunteers from the sanctuary.

Since then they’ve been visited regularly by people who used to feed them when they were based in the town.

Mrs Elliot, who owns a dog grooming salon in Merseyton Road, Ellesmere Port, said: “It’s so annoying because they had been fed and kept safe.

“We just want to know if they are OK. There have been so many people in Ellesmere Port who have visited them and taken an interest.”

PC Frank Morris of Ellesmere Port police station, said enquiries were ongoing and that if anybody had any information about the incident they should call 0845 458 0000.
