DEAN SAUNDERS will have another chance to run the rule of his squad tonight when Wrexham face Carlton Town, writes Gareth Bicknell.

The Dragons travel to the Bill Stokefield Stadium in Nottinghamshire to face the Unibond Division One South side as they continue their preparations for the new season’s assault on the Blue Square Premier.

One player who won’t be involved is striker Marc Williams, who will see a specialist on Monday after injuring the foot in which he broke a metatarsal last season in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End at the Racecourse.

However, physio Mel Pejic said yesterday the injury did not look serious.

Striker Andrew Mangan, with whom Wrexham were linked earlier in the summer, was yesterday banned for five months for betting on the outcome of a game. He was also fined £2,000 for staking £3,500 on Bury, for whom he was playing at the time, to beat Accrington Stanley on May 3, 2008. Bury won the game 2-0.

Three other players were also banned for betting on the same game, including Chester’s Jay Harris and David Maddix. All are expected to appeal.

l DARRAN KEMPSON has joined Accrington Stanley, while Tom Kearney has signed for Altrincham.
