SHOCKED parents arrived at a primary school to find a space ship had crash-landed on the playing field – and the headteacher had been abducted by aliens.

Pupils of Wolverham Primary and Nursery School constructed the craft using cardboard, and even erected a police cordon and a life-sized police officer standing guard.

The event, on Wednesday, March 28, was part of the Boost STEM festival activities that have been supported by University of Liverpool Physics Outreach.

Children were able to investigate the crash site, interview eye witnesses and take part in space and alien themed activities.

A pop-up planetarium also visited the school and the headteacher, Tracy Webb, was taken hostage by the alien and the children had to write persuasive letters to ensure she was returned safely.
