YOUNG goalkeeper Owain fon Williams has signed for Stockport County.

The 21-year-old was offered a new deal and the number one shirt at Gresty Road but he had continually ignored phone calls and letters from Crewe boss Steve Holland since the end of last season.

And after seeing new signings Steve Collis and Adam Legzdins arrive at Reaseheath, the Welshman decided to move on.

Academy graduate fon Williams revealed former Stockport loanee and Wales number one Wayne Hennessey had played a big part in his decision to move to Edgeley Park.

A compensation fee will now have to be paid to the Railwaymen as he is under 24.
