WITTON Albion have sacked manager Nigel Deeley after nine consecutive defeats in the UniBond Premier.

The decision was taken after Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Eastwood Town which cemented Witton’s position in the league’s bottom four.

Acting chairman Mark Harris was eager to praise the efforts of Deeley and those of his assistant Andy Nelson, who was also axed by the club at the weekend.

Former Albion boss Gary Finley and ex-Witton full-back Lee Coathup, who played at Wembley in 1992 for the Albion, were unveiled as the new coaching team to lead Witton out of the mire.
