A CRACKER from James McIntosh ensured the Wingmakers continued their flying start to the season on Friday night – but the Citizens left the Airfield feeling they were robbed of a point.
There was seconds to spare when Bangor captain Marc Limbert’s in-swinging corner eluded goalkeeper Andy Hughes and appeared to cross the line.
It was a thrilling end to a thrilling second half, in complete contrast to an opening period to forget.
Airbus upped the tempo after the break with the winner coming in the 48th minute when McIntosh reacted quickest to a knock down from a free kick and unleashed a fearsome half-volley that crashed in off the bar.
Bangor were rocking and Paul Hallows and Dave Hughes came close to extending the advantage.
Nev Powell rang the changes and substitute Tommy Mutton, would surely have equalised had it not been for a poor pass from Smyth. Before the late controversy, Bangor also had a penalty appeal turned down.
