Adactus Housing Association is supporting a Neston Youth Club, Wednesday@7, for the second year via the Neighbourhood Fund.

Wednesday@7 is run through Neston Parish Youth in the Community every Wednesday evening.

The club caters for 10 to 15-year-olds with mixed abilities, held at the Neston Community and Youth Centre, Burton Road.

The aim of the club is to encourage young people to share skills, work with each other and have fun at the same time.

The club is staffed by a group of local volunteers who are continually looking for exciting and informative sessions for the youngsters.

The young people are encouraged to have fun playing pool, table tennis, XBox with the opportunity to try a different activity each week.

Activity sessions range from healthy eating and cookery through to sport sessions and film making.

Carol Stott, Wednesday@7 leader, said: “The funding we receive from Adactus Housing means that we are able to give the young people a well rounded, fun programme, and see that they can experience lots of various activities, from circus skills to cookery to handling exotic animals.”

The funding the club receive enables them to charge just £1 per person to take part in the sessions. This opens up the club to everyone within the community.

Laura Reynolds, Adactus Housing, said: “When I visited Wednesday@7 there was a real buzz in the room. It’s clear to see that the young people really engage with the sessions and enjoy the various activities.

“It’s great that the Neighbourhood Fund is able to support such an important community group.”
