A CHOIR and a drama group in Ellesmere Port are appealing for new members to come forward.

Stage Fright is an over-50s community drama group and The Fireflies is a community ladies choir with members aged from nine-80.

Both groups performed recently at Hollymere Extra Care Development before friends and family and three of the four plays performed by Stage Fright were written by members of the cast.

The two groups meet in the Central and Westminster ward and local councillor Lynn Clare said: “Fun and enjoyment are the big pluses for both groups which have got off to flying starts.

“So if you would like a go at being involved in Stage Fright or Fireflies please get in touch – drama and singing are both enjoyable hobbies and you will be able to meet new friends and learn something new about each pastime and even about yourself. They are also both great confidence boosters.”

Stage Fright is supported by Wearpurple Arts and receives Big Lottery funding through the Age UK Target Wellbeing project. The drama group meets at Hollymere every other Friday between 11am and 12.30pm.

The choir was set up in October 2009 and has attracted Big Lottery support as well as funding from councillors Bob Crompton, Kathy Lord, Pat Merrick, Derek Bateman, Lynn Clare, Angela Claydon and Paul Donovan.

It is also supported by Wearpurple through Shell funding and meets in the Community Room at Ellesmere Port Fire Station every Friday from 7-9pm.
