WALES coach John Toshack could turn to Wrexham's in-form ace Mark Jones to solve his injury crisis.

The national team meet up today ahead of Saturday's trip to Northern Ireland with Toshack facing a major selection headache as five of his squad are rated as major doubts.

Craig Bellamy limped out of Blackburn's 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday in the 14th minute, just four games after returning from a thigh injury.

Simon Davies, who was already struggling with shin splints, suffered a dead leg in Everton's 2-0 defeat at Manchester City but was forced to play on as the Blues had used all their substitutes.

Cardiff's Jason Koumas picked up a groin strain while also tweaking his hamstring as the Bluebirds went down 2-1 to Luton, while defenders Robert Page of Coventry and Wolves' Rob Edwards also suffered injuries over the weekend.

With so many possible absentees, especially in the attacking midfield area, Wrexham's 21-year-old playmaker Jones could be earmarked as a potential replacement.

Jones has played himself into contention over the last week with a couple of stirring displays - following up a goal at Wycombe last Tuesday with a superb brace in the 3-0 demolition of Stockport on Saturday.

The Wrexham man is currently in the under-21 squad. His only full internatonal experience to date came in August when he sat on the bench as an unused substitute for the goalless friendly against Slovenia.
