POLICE are urging any more young victims of paedophile Adrian Martin Jones to come forward.

They issued the appeal after Jones, of Ellesmere Port, was jailed for 14 years at Chester Crown Court.

Jones, 46, of Norley Avenue, admitted 26 sex charges against boys and girls in the Port' between 1991 and this year.

Outside court, as he was led to the prison van, a crowd of 20 people pelted him with eggs and other missiles.

Speaking after the case, Detective Con-stable Brendan Crilley, of Cheshire police's public protection unit, who led the investigation, said he hoped Jones' victims could now find 'closure' to their ordeal.

He added: 'I only hope any people who have lived with the haunting memories of being victim of such offences will

take heart from this investigation, from the courage and bravery of those witnesses involved, and find within themselves the strength to contact us.

'I appeal to anyone who has anything they wish to discuss regarding Adrian Martin Jones, commonly known as Martin Jones, to come forward.

'And I encourage any person who has been a victim of this kind of crime, committed by any other person, to also call us.

'Jones received a just sentence, which I hope will send a message to any person who has committed or is committing such offences - we will pursue and identify you and seek to remove you from society by substantial imprisonment.'

In a statement issued via the police, Jones' family condemned his actions, saying they were 'sickened'.

They added: 'We have worked hard in conjunction with Cheshire police, who we raised the matter with after Martin's history of child abuse was first brought to our attention.

'We hope everyone who was involved, the victims and their families, realises the information they passed on was vital in bringing Martin to justice.

'Without them having the courage to come forward, he may have continued his abusing for much longer.

'If you are a victim of child abuse, don't suffer in silence. Tell someone like the police or child welfare organisations.

'There is help and support. Remember, you haven't done anything wrong, no matter what the abuser says.'

The family praised DC Crilley, saying: 'We thank him for all his hard work, understanding and dedication in finding the truth.'

'I want to say sorry'

PAEDOPHILE Adrian Martin Jones apologised in open court for his sex crimes.

Jones, 46, had written a letter to Judge Elgan Edwards, the contents of which were read by his barrister at Chester Crown Court.

Defending, Gordon Hennell said: 'Jones says in his letter to My Lord: 'I want to say sorry to my victims and their families'.

'Jones went on to claim he didn't realise, until his arrest, how much he had hurt his victims, and says he's full of shame and remorse.'

Mr Hennell accepted this was 'a very serious matter' that could only end in a lengthy prison term, but asked for credit for Jones' guilty pleas.

Jones admitted 26 serious sex charges on a 30-count indictment. The other four charges were not proceeded with.

Mr Hennell added: 'The pre-sentence report says certain things happened to the defendant in his early life, but that is not an excuse for his behaviour.

'While on remand, there were two occasions when Jones found his cellmate had attempted suicide.'

Mr Hennell also handed in 10 references from people who know Jones, which 'show another side of him'.
