ABERYSTWYTH Town will look to move a step closer to a place in the final of the Loosemores Cup for the first time when they host Llanelli in the first leg tonight, writes John Bridgwater.

With the return leg at Stebonheath Park in two weeks, the Black and Greens will be anxious to ensure they keep their hopes alive by gaining some reward this evening.

However, it promises to be tough semi-final with Llanelli on a rich vein of goalscoring form having won their last six Welsh Premier matches to move top of the table.

By contrast, Aber’s form has been mixed, having lost five of their last seven with last weekend’s narrow 1-0 loss at Bangor City seeing them slip to ninth spot.

But they can take heart from their successes against the Llanelli full-timers, who they defeated in past seasons in the league and league cup.

Midfielder Gavin Cadwallader could come into the frame after getting another game under his belt for the reserves following a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Aberystwyth’s reserves will also be in action when they visit Newtown in the Central Wales Floodlit Cup tonight.
