THE Queen's School in Chester are celebrating another year of superb A-level results.

For the second time in three years, students have achieved 90% or more A* -B grades and the number of coveted A* grades has risen to 27.3% of the total grades awarded and 66% of girls achieved all A* and A grades.

Headmistress Sarah Clark said: "These are a truly impressive set of results from an outstanding group of students.

"I am delighted with the grades that the girls have achieved. These results are testament to their ability, love of learning and determination to succeed.

"By far the majority of the girls have achieved their first choice of university offer and all of our medical students and Oxbridge candidates have secured their places following these results.

"What is also inspiring is that these students have gained their top results while at the same time demonstrating that they can lead balanced lives. Many of these students are prefects, and all take part in some form of extra-curricular activities, in the arts, music, sport, drama, Combined Cadet Force or charity work. We are so proud of their remarkable achievements."

Within the cohort were a number of outstanding individual successes. Jill Higson received 4A*, Emily Wayne, Holly McCann, Lauren O’Donnell and Elizabeth Fletcher each achieved three A* and one A in their results, while Sarah Poulten gained four A* and Sarah Burgess achieved five A* grades.

Other high achievers include:Sophie Donald (2A*), Kitty Green (2A*), Hannah Littler (2A*), Hannah Swettenham (2A*). India Czulowski, Olivia Evans, Lujska Halshall-Fischel, Ayesha Jones, Ghalia Khan, Katherine Light, Hebe Middlemiss, Shweta Modayur and Jenny Reynolds each achieved one A*.
