PARAMEDICS received minor injuries after the ambulance in which they were travelling skidded off the road and crashed into a tree.

The accident happened at 1.35pm on Monday in Caughall Road, Upton, Chester, near the entrance to the zoo, when the ambulance was on its way to an emergency call.

The vehicle went down an embankment, hit a tree and ended up in a ditch. No other vehicles were involved.

Another ambulance was immediately sent to the first emergency call. Merseyside Regional Ambulance spokeswoman Sarah Jones said: 'Fortunately both members of staff received only minor injuries.

'An investigation will take place to identify the cause of the accident.'
