ROADWORKS on the M56 are nearing completion.
The £6.5m scheme to install a new safety system between junction 9 and junction 16 of the motorway is due to finish by the end of this month, a year ahead of its original schedule.
The 21-mile stretch of road between Lymm and Ellesmere Port has been subject to various lane closures in both directions since October. The MIDAS system will see real-time traffic information, generated by sensors in the road surface, displayed on electronic signs. They will provide journey time information including warnings about congestion or accidents.
