A £5,000 project to improve facilities at Brymbo Methodist Chapel is nearing completion.

The works have seen the installation of double-glazed windows, enhanced access to the chapel in High Street and improvements to the cellar area, which will enable community groups which use the chapel to store their equipment.

The project has been made possible thanks to a £5,000 grant through the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) administered by Environmental Body WREN.

A donation of £100 from Brymbo Community Council also helped secure the funding.

The minister, the Rev Richard Sharples, said: “As well as our usual chapel services we do have community groups who use this centre on a regular basis and we recognised that substantial improvements to the building would make it more appealing to its users, and especially save money on heating bills as our old windows were single-glazed and had been in situ for many years.

“We hope the refurbishment will encourage other groups to use this excellent community facility in the future.”
