It’s the largest in the UK and it’s back in Ellesmere Port.
The biggest pumpkin around is again in residence at the Port Arcades Shopping Centre.
Measuring over 6m in diameter, the gigantic feature takes pride of place in the rotunda suspended high above shoppers in the centre.
With its friendly face, the Port Arcades hopes the larger than life pumpkin will once again delight shoppers old and young alike. It will remain in place until after Halloween.
The centre says the attraction proved to be a massive hit with shoppers when it was first installed at the centre five ago.
Such was its popularity that it continues to be a regular feature each Halloween and forms an important part of the Port Arcades’ much enjoyed annual Halloween celebrations.
Now October is here, the centre says the countdown has started to Saturday, October 29 and its ‘safe trick or treating day’ when children in fancy dress can trick or treat the shops. Spooky entertainers have been lined up and the centre is also hosting a free pumpkin carving workshop for children to design their own pumpkin ready for Halloween.
There will also be free face painting sessions and fancy dress competitions at intervals throughout the day.
As Halloween falls during the half term holidays this year there will be an additional day of fun on Monday, October 31.
With wand making workshops, an owl display and a visit from a Dumbledore look alike, the centre’s All Hallows day is said to be a ‘must’ for all Harry Potter fans.
There will also be fancy dress competitions held at intervals throughout the day.
Both events are free and will run between 10.30am and 3pm with some retailers offering special discounts and promotions to celebrate Halloween.
Michelle Pickstock from the centre said: “Our free family safe trick or treating event has been designed to allow children to enjoy the delights of trick or treating in a safe and warm environment whilst our All Hallows event is a great way to start the half term holiday.”
