If you were a youngster living in the Chester area back in the 1960s and 1970s, chances are you frequented the nightclub and live music venue that was Quaintways.

Quaintways was the brainchild of Chester entrepreneur Gordon Vickers who owned and operated the club before moving on to the Mill Hotel. It regularly played host to huge bands of the day, such as Thin Lizzy, The Sex Pistols, The Who, Status Quo and Slade to name a few. It was the Monday night home of the Wall City Jazz Club and also housed a hairdressing salon.

So many people speak fondly of Chester’s nightlife in years gone by, and now there’s an opportunity to re-live those happy nights at Quaintways, with a special reunion that is being planned for next year.

Cestrians and Quaintways regulars Chris Roscoe and Jeff Price along with Sue Holleron and Sue Proctor, have organised The Anti-Quainted Ways Reunion, which will be held on Monday, September 5 2016 at Rosies nightclub, the former Quaintways venue on Northgate Street.

Headlining the event, will be Liverpool band The Undertakers (who performed there in 1967) with a support band yet to be confirmed.

Entry will be strictly on a ticket only basis and VIP tickets are available to the first 100 interested parties and are available on a first come, first served basis costing £10. This will give you early entry, a glass or two of bubbly, and a special preview of a Memories of the Sixties display.

Chris told The Chronicle: “Unfortunately, VIP tickets cannot be refundable, as perish the thought the event might not take place, we will lose our deposit. I’m sure everyone will appreciate that we couldn’t afford to pay this deposit out of our pensions!

“Any and all profits will go to local charities so to ensure everyone’s a winner, we’re keen to spread the word and let’s get ready to rock!”
