On September 9 2015 Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest-reigning monarch in British history, breaking the record held for more than a century by Queen Victoria, whose reign of 63 years and 216 days defined an entire era.

We look back at the past visits the Queen has made to Ellesmere Port performing a number of duties over the years.

You may recall a visit to the area in 1979 where she is pictured at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall signing the visitors' book with then borough mayor Fred Price.

Or where you there to cheer her on when she opened the Blue Planet Aquarium in 1998?
