On Wednesday, September 9, 2015 Her Majesty The Queen will become Britain's longest reigning monarch, breaking the record held for more than a century by her great great grandmother Queen Victoria.

The Queen has visited Chester on numerous occasions during her reign and as a princess.

Only five years into her reign, in 1957, she visited Chester Infirmary and opened the new County Hall.

She also made a visit to the city's racecourse in the mid 1960s where her love of horses shone out as she witnessed her horse Garter Lady go out for the Cheshire Oaks at Chester Races.
