This week we are featuring some great images of bygone Chester life.

Thanks to Chester History and Heritage Centre who have allowed us to reproduce these pictures of how the city looked decades ago, it is fascinating to see how much things have changed over the years.

Sights here include an election canvas by former Chester MP Sir Basil Nield, people choosing their first refrigerator in the wake of consumerism and fans queuing to see the Rolling Stones play at the city’s ABC cinema in 1964.

Others show popular streets like Northgate Street, Bridge Street and Princess Street and how they used to look.
