Memories of Ellesmere Port Greyhound Stadium

Enjoy a look back at the glory years of the greyhound and speedway track before its converted into housing

It may soon become housing but there are still the echoes of racing around Ellesmere Port's stadium.

The greyhound and speedway track holds many special memories for those in the town.

Revamped in 2013 the 2,000-capacity stadium is now due to be turned into new homes as part of a £3.645m deal.

A number of affordable homes are expected as part of the scheme, with Cheshire West and Chester Council saying a three-bed townhouse would be around £80,000.

We've raided the Chronicle and Pioneer archives to find pictures of it in its pomp.
