The Chester Grosvenor is appealing for your memories as it prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary.
The Chester Grosvenor was created on March 20, 1865, by Richard, the second Marquess of Westminster, who felt a demand in an expanding city for a larger and grander hotel.
The landmark hotel hosted the great and the good from the beginning. From the fanfare of Edward, Prince of Wales, Earl of Chester’s visit in 1869 to modern day royalty, world leaders and silver screen icons.
Managing director Jonathan Slater said: “We are an independent hotel and have been since 1865 – and it has afforded us the great luxury of longevity and consistency. Because of this, we have great loyalty from our team and are able to form relationships with our guests that span generations. We would love to hear these stories and celebrate them.”
Paul Cookson, hotel manager, added: “The Chester Grosvenor is an institution and there is no escaping its history and heritage. We want to create a resource to share this history and so we’ll be asking people to share stories on social media and in the hotel. “We will create an archive of photography and memorabilia so that all those that are interested can enjoy our story.”
