November 22 marks 20 years since the late, great rally ace Colin McRae won his only World Rally Championship title to jubilant scenes at Chester Racecourse.

Thousands of rally fans lined the routes at the 1995 Rally of Great Britain to cheer on the Scottish superstar in his iconic Subaru 555 to victory.

In doing so, McRae beat his team-mate Carlos Sainz in a thrilling winner-takes-all season finale and made him the first British driver to secure the drivers’ title.

This year’s Wales Rally GB has been marking the anniversary at the Deeside Service Park, with Colin’s father Jimmy McRae – himself a five-time British Rally Champion – providing the title-winning Subaru for public display.

Sadly, Colin McRae lost his life in a helicopter accident in 2007 and his 1995 triumph proved to be his only world title, despite coming close on several other occasions.

We are now asking for your memories of the event.

Did you see the scrum as competitors struggled to make their way past the hordes of rally fans at the Northgate Arena for scrutineering? Were you present for the title celebrations at Chester Racecourse to see McRae and co-driver Derek Ringer spraying the champagne? Do you have any pictures of the event?
