Students are invited to a one-off money-saving shopping event in Chester.

The Grosvenor Shopping Centre is opening its doors to offer fantastic discounts, promotions and entertainment to anyone with a student ID on Thursday, October 9, from 6-8.30pm.

Following the success of the shopping centre’s first student night last year, the rubber duck-themed event called Thank Duck It’s Thursday, is back to celebrate the start of the academic year.

With more than 3,000 freshers expected to descend on the city, retailers including Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, River Island, Bank and many more are offering up to 20 per cent off in-store, as well as special offers and competitions during the event.

Students will also have the opportunity to win vouchers to spend in a variety of the shopping centre’s stores by playing hook a duck, whilst there is a chance to win a £100 shopping spree in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre via a spot the duck competition on Facebook.

Julie Webb, general manager at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, said: ”We’re looking forward to welcoming new and existing students for a night of exclusive discounts and a host of other entertainment.”

The shopping centre has teamed up with student favourites, Rosie’s, to provide a live DJ on the night creating the ultimate party atmosphere.

Some of Chester students’ favourite bars and restaurants including Nandos, Revolution, Pizza Hut and Missoula will also be offering shoppers free food and drink tasters, competitions, games and giveaways.

Regis hairdressers are offering free hairstyling during the event to get student shoppers ready for a big night out and radio station Capital FM are running a competition to win tickets to see music artist Ed Sheeran perform live in Manchester.

Julie added: “Last year students were queuing all the way down Eastgate Street an hour before we even opened, so we’ve got even more great offers and giveaways ready for them this year! It’s a must in the student calendar!”
