Darnhall Show 2015 was held on Sunday, July 12, and the crowds flocked from Winsford and surrounding areas to be a part of this new event with a total of about 3,000 people attending the show in its first year.
There was something for everyone at the show, from farmers market, crafts and shopping marquees, vintage tractors and wagons, Harry Sharland fun fair, go-karts, Cotebrook shire horse, trade stands, tombola, raffle and various other stalls around the show site.
A vintage tractor road-run took place in the morning around the local area and lasted for two hours. The tractors were then judged by Darnhall Parish Council chairman, Laurence Jinks, who picked his favourite tractor and presented the winner with a trophy.
The horse show had a selection of classes for ponies and horses with an excellent turnout and at lunch time in the main ring there was the horse and owners fancy dress competition with lots of creative entries.
There was also a fun dog show which saw rosettes given to all the winners. Prizes were also awarded to all dogs taking part with the overall winner being presented with a trophy. Ruth Howard from Ash House Boarding Kennels had the task of judging the event.
Entertainment took place in the main ring throughout the day, rotating every 20 mins with something for everyone, from Darnhall dancers, to Worleston School Choir, to the crowning of the Rose Queen Eve Bennion and Shirley Oultram’s side saddle demonstration.
This year’s scarecrow winners were announced at the show and they were the Darlington family with their entry ‘Ride um Cowboy decorators’, the trophy was presented by the Winsford Town Mayor Cllr Gaskill-Jones.
A spokesperson said: “A special thanks also has to go the John Bownes for the use of his field and for getting it ready for us weeks before.
“Richard and Sue Langley were also thanked on the day for all their hard work in organising the show – will we be doing it all again!"
