Police are warning drivers to slow down in the fog after several accidents on the motorway network this morning.
Delays have been caused by two separate collisions on the M53 south-bound with one at junction 12 near the Hoole turn-off and a second between junctions 10 and 11 close to Cheshire Oaks.
North West Motorway Police tweeted at 9.14am: “2 separate RTC’s M53 S/B, J12 Hoole & J10-J11 Cheshire Oaks. This has been caused by fog in the area. Please slow down for fog.”
Sandra Greenwood tweeted in reply: “Fog doesn’t cause accidents, drivers do.”
Earlier, one lane of the M56 eastbound near junction 14 at Hapsford was closed, causing queueing traffic due to an accident involving three vehicles during this morning’s rush hour. Even earlier was an accident, also eastbound on the M56 at junction 11, Preston Brook, involving four vehicles.
