A new resource which offers free pregnancy and parenting information is now available to West Cheshire parents.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s public health team, in partnership with the Countess of Chester Hospital Trust and Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Trust, launched the resource – titled ‘Best Beginnings’ – at the Stanlaw Abbey Children’s Centre in Ellesmere Port.

Best Beginnings consists of four main resources: Baby Buddy, a personalised smartphone app; From Bump to Breastfeeding, a set of DVDs following real mothers’ experiences of feeding; Small Wonders, supporting the care of sick or premature babies; and Baby Express, a month-by-month magazine covering the first year of a baby’s life.

The free resources have been developed with input from mums and health and early years professionals. Endorsements have come from, among others, the Department for Health and the Royal College of Midwives.

Cheshire West and Chester Councillor Nicole Meardon, cabinet member for Children and Families, said: “These resources are fantastic for all parents. They provide accurate advice in an accessible way.

“With a combination of informative videos, magazine and the mobile phone app, we will be able to help and offer even more support to parents during this exciting time of their lives.”
