Grease-mania hit an Ellesmere Port high school.

More than 60 students at Whitby High romped through four sell-out performances and a matinee of the rollicking rock ‘n roll-era show.

The look and sound of the 1950s, which also involved 40 staff, may well have left audiences thinking ‘Tell Me More, Tell Me More’ as the talented cast recreated the pyjama party, the prom, the burger palace and the drive-in movie.

The hub cap-stealing, hot rod-loving boys and their wise-cracking girls nervelessly performed their way through the nostalgic scenes in a production described as ‘definitely one to remember’.

The annual show had seen students from Year 7 to Year 13 give up after school time, lunchtimes, weekends and school holidays for rehearsals.

The set design even included a real car.

Headteacher Bryn Heeley described the show as ‘quite exceptional’.

“The result was the best yet,” he said. “A truly outstanding achievement.”
