North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman Maddy Edgar confirmed crews were alerted to the two-vehicle collision but said Cheshire Police cancelled the ambulance as it was en route because it was not required.

Cheshire Police spokeswoman Emma James said: "Officers were called on Saturday, December 10, at 11.25am to reports of a road traffic collision on Weston Grove in Upton, involving two cars – a black Volkswagen Golf and a black Toyota Auris. There didn’t appear to be any injuries."

Nicola Meyrick wrote on Facebook : “My sister saw it not long after it happened. People were out of their cars and looked a bit dazed. It’s such a busy and awkward road because of the shops’ car park and the side roads.”
