The fund-raising campaign for the next Chester Mystery Plays production is under way.

The latest friends’ event was a Christmas gathering at Crewe Hill in Farndon, the home of Michael and Inger Trevor-Barnston.

Chairman Jo Sykes said: “We are eternally grateful to all of our sponsors but our friends are a tremendous asset supporting us with their precious time as well as contributing generously whenever we have one of our events.”

Guests were entertained by the Tilston Carol Singers, garland making by Wendie Cornes and Christmas readings from Nicholas Fry, who played God in the 2013 production.

Those in attendance included Chester Deputy Lord Mayor Hugo Deynem, University of Chester vice-chancellor Tim Wheeler, Bill Hughes, chairman of Chester Performs, board members of Chester Mystery Plays Ltd and Chester leaders from the business, community, as well as the cathedral and university.

The next Chester Mystery Plays production takes place at Chester Cathedral, from June 27–July 14, 2018.
