Chester actor Ian Puleston-Davies has become an ambassador for The Dean Puplett Appeal.
Former Flint High pupil Ian, who lives in Hoole, plays Owen Armstrong in popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
The Dean Puplett appeal is trying to raise �500,000 to fund treatment for Dean in Europe or America if his neuroblastoma returns, as there is currently no treatment for relapsed neuroblastoma, a form of childhood brain cancer, available in the UK.
Six-year-old Dean from Mold visited the set of Coronation Street and met with cast and crew, accompanied by his family and fundraising supporters.
Dean’s mum Jane said: “We are so happy to have an ambassador for Dean’s appeal. We had great fun when Ian enthusiastically showed us around the set of Coronation Street , where we found all the cast and crew to be extremely welcoming and friendly.”
Ian added: “When they approached me to get involved I said yes straight away. After all he’s gone through, how could I not help him?
“At Coronation Street we get inundated with requests for help, but unfortunately we have to be quite selective, but something about Dean’s plight switched a lightbulb on in my head, and I have to admit I was also a bit biased about the fact that he’s local to me!
“I gave them a tour around the Coronation Street set and they had a great time. Dean is a little sweetheart, he’s got so much fight in him, he was bouncing off the walls with energy.
“He has such an amazing personality and the support he’s getting from his family and friends is infectious, you get caught up in it!
“It’s intoxicating when you meet people like the Puplett family and their friends who are working so hard for Dean.
“I am happy to be involved and to help in whatever small capacity I can, even if it’s just highlighting his cause.”
