Christleton High School will be rocking next week as students present a musical based on the music of the legendary Queen.

Following their success in recent years with High School Musical , Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and last year’s Oliver! the musical team will present the West End smash hit We Will Rock You.

Set in a future devoid of creativity, love, music and free thought, ruled over by the Killer Queen, a group of Bohemians, including hero Galileo, set about finding the ‘rock star’ that will set them all free.

With tongue in cheek, the good conquers evil tale is told interwoven with more than 20 of Queen’s best loved hit songs including Radio Gaga, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, Headlong and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Playing the lead roles of Galileo and Scaramouche are Kieran Roberts and Annie Howarth, both of whom hope to study at drama college following their A Levels.

Director Simon Phillips, a drama and music teacher at the school, spoke of the dedication of the young performers and crew: “It’s so inspiring to watch a bunch of talented and committed young people work together towards a singular aim. “This show is set to top everything we have done before and we have always set our standards very high. “There is quite a buzz around school and the local community so we are hoping for lots of support”.
