MIND bogglingly big bugs have arrived.

Chester Zoo has a  new exhibition of  robotic giants which  includes a 24 foot  scorpion, a 10 foot  ladybird and  super-sized spiders.

The huge creations  were custom built for  the zoo by an  animation studio in  the USA and it will  be the first time they  will have ever been  seen together  anywhere in the  world, when BUGS!  opens tomorrow.

The event will run  until November 3.  Visitors will also get  some amazing facts  about the world of  bugs – did you know  dragonfly can fly at  up to 35mph and a  grasshopper can  jump 20 times its  own body length?

Chester Zoo’s  director general,  Mark Pilgrim, said:  “We want BUGS! to  put invertebrates in  the spotlight, show  how fantastic they  are and really raise  awareness of the need  to conserve them.

“Engaging people,  particularly  youngsters, with  conservation  sometimes takes  some drastic ideas  and new ways of  thinking – and that’s  what we hope these  13 giant, robotic bugs  will provide.”
