CHESHIRE West and Chester Council is asking parents, guardians, children and young people for their experiences of mental health services in the borough for everyone under the age of 18.

This is an opportunity to influence and change service provision and any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The views will only be used to inform the scrutiny review undertaken by the children and education scrutiny committee.

Councillor Margaret Parker, vice chairman children and education scrutiny committee, has been asked to gather information and report back to the committee in March.

She said: “We want to hear from residents about their experiences of using mental health services for children and young people and whether they would like to suggest any areas for improvement. We will not be asking about particular illnesses or conditions.”

Added Councillor Parker: “We want to understand what services and support Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services provide locally and what people think of them. This is your chance to tell us your views.”

The chair of West Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Huw Charles-Jones, said: “This is a valuable opportunity for young service users and their carers to be able to have a say in local mental health services on how they can be improved and I would encourage local people to get involved.”

If you would like to contribute towards the review, please contact Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Scrutiny Team on scrutiny@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk or write to Cheshire West and Chester Council Scrutiny Team, HQ, 58 Nicholas Street, Chester, CH1 2NP and someone from the Scrutiny Team will contact you in confidence.
