FANATIC footballers from Ellesmere Port have been nominated for a ScottishPower/Trinity Mirror Cheshire Your Champions award.

Princes Villa under-14s have been nominated under the Sporting Champion category.

The football team consists of long-standing friendships as the majority of the team has been playing together since they were five.

The team is a credit to Ellesmere Port having played in tournaments all over the North-West along with Holland (twice), Spain and Portsmouth.

The boys have been double cup winners three times, league runners up in the last two years, unbeaten all season league winners 2007-08, winner of two tournaments in Holland 2007 and Sussex Cup played in Selsey Portsmouth in 2010.

The team are watched weekly by very supportive parents. One proud parent has shown her support by nominating the team for the award.

Kim Paterson of Park Drive, Ellesmere Port, said: “They are a great bunch of boys, who are proud to play for Princes Villa and represent Ellesmere Port.”

She added: “The boys contribute to their trips abroad by raising funds by doing bag packs at local supermarkets and sponsored bike rides.”
