A TIRELESSLY dedicated community volunteer has been nominated for a Your Champions award for the third time.

Bhupinder Virdee-Lace, of Newton, has continually helped out people in Chester and the surrounding areas.

Sophia Minshull, who put Bhupinder forward for the accolade, said: “Bhupinder is a tireless community volunteer who, although she works full time in a school for children with learning difficulties and a mother to a young boy, never stops to help and support anyone who needs her in the local community.”

Sophia also listed the activities and achievements Bhupinder has been involved in recently.

She has been involved with Save the Family’s Dalit Freedom Network, assisting the poorest communities in India with Wesley Church, as well as being a member of the board of Cheshire and Halton Race Equality Centre.

Bhupinder is secretary of Wrexham-based interfaith group Tangreffed, has helped to raise more than £25,000 in the last two years for St Christopher’s School, where she is a teacher, and assisted with the Kizzi Project in Uganda in collaboration with the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Bhupinder was also instrumental in helping establish Cheshire’s first multicultural centre.
