GREEN-FINGERED Girl Guides, Rainbows and Brownies helped plant new life into the courtyard gardens at Halton General Hospital.

Janet Walker, one of the hospital’s public governors representing Frodsham, called on the community to help clean up the tired-looking flower beds and make the area more colourful.

“When I am not a governor for the hospital, I am a patient of the physiotherapy team and the courtyard outside the department is a dreary one – not a nice scene whilst waiting for treatment,” said Janet.

“So I approached the girls from the various groups about getting involved and cleaning it up. They jumped at the chance and we now have a bright and cheerful courtyard to view.”

Twelve Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides offered to help out and soon got stuck into the task to weed, add new compost and plant bulbs and flowers and were helped out with the heavier tasks by the Rotary Club.

The girls will be back in during the Christmas holidays to prepare for spring with more bulbs and shrub planting.
