AN ACTIVITY day at Castle Park in Frodsham was attended by more 1,200 children, young people and families last weekend.

The Play Day, a free activity-led event organised by Cheshire West and Chester council, included a climbing wall, a waterslide, orienteering, dodge-ball, mini-fencing and frisbee-throwing.

In the arts and crafts area visitors tried their hand at willow weaving, African drumming, making wooden necklaces and toasting marshmallows.

A giant haystack and giant board games, including snakes-and-ladders, were also enjoyed throughout the summer holiday play bonanza which ran between 11am and 3pm.

“We did everything possible to ensure there was something for youngsters of all ages,” said Cllr Richard Short, executive member for culture and recreation.
