A YOUNGSTER got into the Christmas spirit early when she became Santa’s little helper for the day in Chester.

Imogen Whiteley, of Connah’s Quay, switched on Chester’s Forum Shopping Centre festive lights after she won a drawing competition run by the centre and radio station Dee 106.3.

The six-year-old got to tour the city with Santa in his magical sleigh pulled by real reindeer before the switch-on at the weekend.

Her dad Darren said: “Imogen really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. She did a grand job and was made to feel like a princess for the day.”

Imogen, who is a pupil of Ysgol Bryn Deva, also got to tour Chester Market with Santa, feed the reindeer and was interviewed by Dee 106.3 DJ Gavin Matthews.

Forum Shopping Centre manager Lawrence Allen said: “Imogen really enjoyed her day with Santa and I’m sure she loved her prizes which included £20 worth of shopping vouchers and a slap up Christmas meal with her parents at the Forum’s own branch of McDonalds.

“She played her part in bringing Christmas to the Forum brilliantly and the crowds were delighted to see her smiling face.”
