A TEAM of young people have been rewarded for three months of effort as members of the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's Prince's Trust.

A graduation evening was held in honour of Crewe Team 22 at the Alexandra Stadium, where they were presented with certificates and asked to speak about their experience as community volunteers and what they gained from the 12-week personal development prog ramme.

The 11 Prince's Trust graduates took part in community-based volunteer work including a garden renovation at Elm House nursing home, Nantwich. They were also presented with Duke of Edinburgh Bronze awards and Millennium Volunteer Awards at the ceremony.

Prince's Trust spokeswoman, Isobel Sykes, said: 'Considering many of them have so little confidence it was a huge achievement. 'The community projects they undertook focused on team-building which will put them in good stead for the future.

Already some have interviews for jobs, are going to college and university, or continuing their volunteer work.'

* The Prince's Trust is recruiting for a new Crewe team to start from Monday. For details, phone Isobel on 07776 297804 or Abbie Heyes on 07776 297800.
