Chester Music Society has presented two young musicians with a bursary.

Imogen Royce, 18, and William Bracken, 16, have each been awarded £500.

Imogen, from Timperley, became Chester Young Musician at the society’s annual competition last November, and was presented with her award and her bursary at a performance at St Mary’s Centre in January.

Flautist Imogen in now a student at the Royal College of Music where she is supported by a Herbert Howells and Thomas Fielder Award.

Runner-up pianist William Bracken from the Wirral is a student at the Junior RNCM.

Presenting the awards and bursaries society chairman David Woods said: “Yet again we have shown the depth of outstanding talent in Chester and district, and the music society is proud to be able once again to help in the development of musical ability amongst our young people as they go on to music college.”
