YOUNG carers in Frodsham donned their chefs hats and dished up delicious treats to learn about healthy living.

Members of the Northwich and District Youth Club have spent some much needed leisure time enjoying learning how to cook thanks to a £500 donation from Weaver Vale Housing Trust.

The weekly club, which gives young people who care for sick relatives a chance to socialise and learn new skills, used the money to buy ingredients and cooking equipment.

Youth worker Helen Davies said: “Without the support of organisations like Weaver Vale Housing Trust we would not be able to run clubs like this so we are extremely grateful to them.

“Our young carers group promotes healthy living and also helps to boost the self-esteem and confidence of the youngsters as well as giving them the opportunity to meet other carers.”

Club organisers hope that the members will use their new skills to lead more healthy lifestyles and use their new skills at home.

Resident involvement support officer Karen Cromwell said: “Northwich and District Youth Club are making a real difference to the lives of young carers in Mid Cheshire and their families and we were delighted to support the project through our community fund.”
