A GROUP of Special bobbies from York visited Cheshire last weekend to see how Western Area’s finest police Chester.

Cheshire Special Chief Inspector Celvyn Jones said: “We are widely recognised as having some of the best working practices for Special Constables in the country.

“We were approached by our North Yorkshire counterparts and asked if they could pay us a visit to see how we operate.”

Special Constables have the same police powers as regular Police Constables, but do not get paid for the duties they perform.

Their importance was highlighted in July when Special Constables in Western Area were on duty for a total of more than 3,000 unpaid hours.
