DRUNKEN yobs have trashed Frodsham's £130,000 skate park.
Broken glass bottles and empty cans of alcohol have been dumped by older youths, who are also suspected of setting several small rubbish fires and damaging a concrete ramp .
Pupils from schools helped design the new park as part of Vale Royal Borough Council's sports and recreation ground at the Saltworks Farm site in Ship Street.
Groundwork Cheshire built the facility with funding from waste recycling groups WREN, BiffAward, Frodsham Town, Vale Royal Borough and Cheshire County councils as a legacy to Frodsham's youngsters.
However, Frodsham PC Terry Cawley and PCSO Kay Swindlehurst told Frod-sham Town Council on Tuesday that it had been vandalised.
PC Cawley said: 'The skate-park seems to be attracting older youths when it gets dark and they are causing a lot of problems. When the lights go off they are using the site for drinking.
'Fires have been lit on the site and I know the borough council has already taken away a lot of rubbish'.
Inspector Phil Hodgson, head of the Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: 'We need to clamp down on this problem and we are paying extra attention to this site.'
