CHILDREN and parents at Huntington Primary School enjoyed a spectacular version of The Lion King.
The musical involved the Year 6 children, who performed it as their leavers’ show.
The production, adapted and directed by Year 6 teacher Becky Bland, brought together talents from across the school.
Year 5 children prepared scenery, parents and teaching assistants created costumes and face- paint designs and music tutor Edward Hartwell-Jones trained the soloists and provided the musical accompaniment.
The Year 6 children prepared props, including elephants that towered over the young audience as they strode toward the stage, and IT experts in the class provided a constantly changing background of African scenes, projected from above the stage.
Headteacher Duncan Rose said: “The performances held the audience captivated from beginning to end.
“The singing and acting were exceptional, from great comedic turns and solo vocals to wonderful ensemble singing and dance routines . It was a privilege to witness it all come together to such impressive effect.”
