Children and grown-ups across Chester celebrated World Book Day last week (Thursday, March 6) by dressing up as their favourite book characters.

Teachers sent in fabulous photograph by email of their children’s creative costumes and our Twitter feed (@ChesterChron) and Facebook page were full of pictures of lions, bears, soldiers, princesses, the Mad Hatter, The Cat in the Hat and Pinocchio, to name only a few.

View more photographs in our first and second galleries.

Children at Guilden Sutton Primary School were encouraged to tell tales.

Starting with reception class, each year group added an exciting installment before Year 6 offered up a thrilling finale.

The children of Eaton Primary School, near Tarporley, had a declicious project for each class to make an enormous book linked to the theme of chocolate.

They also ran a book fair, made bookmarks, and read favourite stories, poems and non-fiction books.
